Communication and trust

Assuming that the CEO of a large public company (but for that matter the CEO of any growing enterprise) does not personally build product and push code and negotiate contracts with vendors and so on…

Assuming that the CEO is there to set direction and convey it to the team, the market, the board and investor base…

Assuming that the CEO relies on the constancy and support of all these different factions… but is ultimately responsible if the direction fails…

Although it may have been for code that wasn’t pushed or product that was poorly built or vendors that didn’t deliver or investors that may have stirred things up…

And so on…

Assuming all these things, the CEO is at the nucleus of a growing sphere that is shaped by communication… and solidified by trust… which ultimately determine his or her effectiveness.
